Domestic Violence is a scourge of society, bringing fear right into the hearts of peoples lives. I was involved in the tragedy of the murder of Janine Mundy in Cornwall in 2003. Her family have generously worked with the police since then to help prevent others facing the terrible events they have been through. The J9 scheme was created in memory of Janine (J9) and is based around simple training for those businesses where victims of domestic violence may begin to disclose what is happening to them. In Cornwall and Totnes where this is already running staff in hairdressers, chemists, doctors surgeries and others have been trained. They then display a discreete J9 symbol in their premises to let victims know. We will be launching this scheme soom in Plymouth.
