The day statrted and ended with meetings designed to work out the NI set to inform the LAA of the LSP !
In other words, partners that make up the City's Local Strategic Partnership (LSP), consisting of the statuatory agencies, private sector and voluntary and community sectors work together to create a Local Area Agreement (LAA) that defines how we work together. Across the country all LSPs are defining the targets and indicators they are going to work on for the next 3 years. We are all picking the 35 key indicators we will jointly commit to. This sounds a bit dry, but it is facinating to see all these different bodies coming together, thinking about how they can work together for the benefit of all. For example, there is a clear police interest on Anti Social Behaviour, but underlying that are education, social services and leisure issues. We are working together in various ways now but If we choose the right shared targets and indicators, all our resources gradually shift over the years to greater long term joint benefit.
CCTV
Plymouth CCTV is an excellent asset to the City. 24/7 watching what happens, in the city centre but also Devonport and other areas of the city. They are constantly monitoring and calling in on the police radio network. Yesterday they were involved in the recovery of two stolen cars amongst the many other issues of the day. During the evening they were able to monitor the activities of some troublesome youths and call in Police to intervene before things got out of hand. They are often unsung heroes in our joint POlice /Council operations, but are much appreciated.
Veteran's Parade
27th June on the Hoe. More information will follow, but this sounds a great event. We have numerous ex forces people in Plymouth Police, many ex marines, but others from all forces. We will be taking part in this event, as an opportunity to show our respect for colleagues in the forces, those who have left and who have lost their lives.
