Policing Plymouth - John Green

I have asked a variety of people to express their view on any aspect of Policing Plymouth. The below is by John Green, our Superintendent (Operations Support)

"As the most recent addition to the BCU Senior Management Team in Plymouth I am responsible for issues which, as the title would suggest, deliver support to our operational policing functions. This involves working with our partners across the city, including statutory, private and the voluntary and community sector (more widely known now as the Third Sector).
Having transferred to Devon and Cornwall from Northamptonshire Police in 1999, I have worked for the period since transfer in Cornwall fulfilling various roles at Superintendent level. My policing background is essentially in uniformed operations. I was a beat officer ofr a number of years in my native Scotland and, on transferring to Northants, was a patrol sergeant before moving on to various other operational roles. I am a police public order commander and firearms commander.
I was posted to Plymouth in the New Year and have thoroughly enjoyed my first two months in the city. Plymouth enjoys an excellent reputation in the police for the way all parties work together towards agreed common goals. I was very happy to be posted here and look forward to the time ahead being part of the team in Plymouth. I am absolutely committed to working with everybody to reduce crime and create a safer city for those who live, work or visit the city. "
